Embedded text or transcriptThe amateur actor loves a "costume" play, but is invariably overpowered by his
wig. He rarely seems able to put dash into a dashing character. The less his features
resemble Napoleon's, the more he likes to place Napoleon parts. In playing Hamlet, his
anxiety to give a fresh rendering of the part leads him into difficulties. He finds cloaks
difficult things to deal with. And when it comes to very "natural" parts, he suffers from
enlargement of the hands.
