Children's books: "The Emperor's New Clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen is about a vain Emperor who hires two swindlers who promise to make him clothes from a fabric hich is invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or stupid. The Emperor and his ministers cannot see the clothing themselves, but pretend that they can for fear of appearing stupid. The Emperor marches in procession before his subjects who also play along with the pretense until a child in the crowd shouts out that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all and the cry is taken up by others.
