Implied textBlair's 'psychotic glint' realling Bells Thatcher caricatures.
NotesNews: The statement from the palace denying any rift between prince Charles and the Queen is seen as an attempt by the Queen to assert authority. Buckingham Palace was stung by opinion polls which show that three quarters of the public think the Queen is remote and out of touch. Claims that the Prince of Wales challenged the Queen's wishes and had fallen out with the Queen's private secretary are declared as false. Channel 4 News presenter, Jon Snow, alleged a week ago that the prince had told Sir Robert Fellowes "to impale himself on his own flagstaff". The day after Princess Diana's funeral Tony Blair acknowledged the need for the monarchy to modernise if it was to retain public support.
