NotesArtwork not dated, date estimated from news. News : The nine Tory Euro-Rebels whose votes are vital in tomorrows debate on European policy appeared last night to be tactically split over whether to support their side or risk bringing down the government. The rebels who lost the pary whip last November, said they would decide how to vote after listening to the Prime Minister. who is opening the debate tomorrow. If the government loses, it will move to a vote of confidence, which could precipitate a General Election. It looked last night as though most will abstain on Labours motion condemning the governments European policy, with perhaps 2 or 3 voting with the opposition. the Rebel MP's will meet again tonight in advance of the debate.
