NotesNews : Labour and the Conservatives last night fought bitterly over an international prescription for renewed economic growth after Cabinet Ministers had sought a last minute European Election boost by claiming that the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's annual report vindicated their free market policies. With most opinion polls pointing to a brutal defeat for many of John Majors 32 MEP's in tomorrows European Elections the Prime Minister seized the oppputrunity presented by the OECD report to declare that the report gave a "ringing endorsement" to fifteen years of Tory de-regulation designed to create labour market "flexibility" and enteprenurial zeal.
