NotesNews: A woman who became chronically ill after breathing other people's tobacco smoke for more than 10 years has won 15,000 pounds compensation, paid for the effects of passive smoking. In a wide-ranging speech Douglas Hurd indicates that without a lasting and durable ceasefire in the former Yugoslavia republic, the Government would resist likely UN demands for the 2,500 British troops guiding humanitarian aid convoys to assume the more hazardous peacekeeping role of separating the warring factions.
