NotesImage 1: See 19415 for published cartoon. News: 11 January: The TUC faced rebellion over its appeal to workers not to strike on the 12th against the Industrial Reform Bill. TUC general secretary, Vic Feather, put forward a plan for "cost-of-living threshold agreements" to check the wage-price spiral. He suggested clauses in pay deals providing for further increases if prices rose faster than a specified amount within a given period.
