NotesConference of Governments of Occupied Countries in London. - Joint Declaration of Punishment for Enemy Atrocities. Representatives of nine European countries at present overrun by the enemy met at St. James's Palace in London on Jan 13 under the presidency of General Sikorski, the Polish Premier, and signed the following declaration: "Whereas Germany, since the beginning of the present conflict which arose out of her policy of aggression, has instituted in the occupied countries a regime of terror characterised in particular by imprisonment, mass expulsions, the execution of hostages and massacres. ... The undersigned representatives of Belgium, Czechoslovakia, the Free French National Committee, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Yugoslavia: ...3. place amongt their principal war aims the punishment through the channel of organised justice, of those guilty and responsible for these crimes, whether they have ordered them, perpetrated them, or in any way participated in them.... He served as German chancellor from 1933-1945 and head of state (Fuhrer) from 1934-1945. He gained support for his views on German nationalism, anti-Semitism, anti-capitalism and anti-communism through his impassioned speeches and propaganda. He wanted to establish a New Order of absolute rule in Europe and pursued a policy of seizing land by force for the Aryan people.
