NotesNews: "Future Taxation - Mr. Dalton's Hope of Reductions: Further reductions in taxation were foreshadowed by the Chancellour of the Exchequer, Mr. Hugh Dalton, in a speech at the May Day demonstration of the Durham Miner's Association at Durham on Saturday. After stating that since taking office he had reduced taxation by 500,000,000 pounds a year, Mr. Dalton said that he hoped to be able to make a still further reduction in income-tax, particularly for the wage earners and small-income people..."
