NotesNews: 19 July: Mr Wilson rejected the terms offered by the Six for Britain's entry into the EEC. Mr Wilson placed himself in the position where he could claim to be consistent in supporting entry in principle while denouncing the terms offered by the Six. His speech left little room for compromise Mr Jenkins and other pro-Market members of the collective leadership of the Labour Party.
