NotesNews: 7 February: The final phases of the Apollo 14 docking in lunar orbit went smoothly. Captain Alan Shepard and Commander Edgar Mitchell had gathered 108lbs. of moon rocks. It was the rock collection, rather than the astronaut's more spectacular attempts to strike a golf ball, which excited geologists. [The Times] News: 9 February: The Laotian government demanded the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops from Laotian territory.
