NotesNews: 7 September: Four hijackings over western Europe made this the worst day for piracy in civil aviation. Palestine guerrillas claimed credit for them. News: 7 September: Plans for selective strikes by key council workers were drawn up by trade union leaders. The claim was for rises of 20 to 30 per cent for many council workers including ambulance crews, dustmen, gravediggers, school meals employees, sewage disposal men and caretakers.
