He told me that privately he was a good Tory like me, but like me he has his little "Ike" to think of.
He said that Moscow was full of crackpot socialists who prefered a higher standard of living to hard work. Most of us were shut up, but there was still one behind every curtain
He didn't mind A-bomb inspection at all. He would even undertake to inspect Russia himself personally to save everybody trouble.
He sympathised with us about Nasser. He'd had trouble with Nasser himself. Nasser was put up to it by a bandit named Tito.
Why this fuss about Berlin? He was just withdrawing Soviet forces from foreign countries. Wasn't that what we were always asking?
The session ended with his bursting into what he alleged was a fusion of both our National Anthems "Gossave our gracious hammerandsickle!"
