"We have just taken over the Govt's propaganda services. It's quite easy because anyone can do publicity; there's nothing to know and it makes such nice jobs for the boys who can't get anything else to do. It isn't important really because so few of these ignorant natives speak English. anyway we English are so splendid that it's quite unnecessary to explain any nasty politics to vulgar cads like Nasser and Khrushchev [sic] beyond telling them that even our funny working classes have hearts of gold. Have some coffee, dears?"
