NotesNews: 20 September. President W.T. Cosgrave has won his second Irish Free State general election in three months with an effective majority of six. It was a rowdy, rough affair, with two people losing their lives in the closing stages of the Campaign. The face of Irish politics is rapidly changing with the two big parties now running almost level. Cosgrave's party won 61 seats and de Valera's Fianna Fail 57. [Chronicle of the 20th Century]
