Soviet communique announced that Voronezh (whose W. suburbs had been in enemy hands since the
offensive of last summer), as well as the E. bank of the Don and the area W. and S.W. of
Voronezh, had been entirely cleared of the enemy; Berlin admitted a withdrawal in this area "to
shorten the German lines". Prisoners taken on this front rose by a further 11,000 to 75,000 by

He gained support for his views on German nationalism, anti-Semitism, anti-capitalism and anti-communism through his impassioned speeches and propaganda. He wanted to establish a New Order of absolute rule in Europe and pursued a policy of seizing land by force for the Aryan people.
