Rommel's Supply column
Person DepictedRommel; Erwin (1891-1944)
NotesNews: May 27. Across the desert in Libya the German panzer division launched their long-expected offensive. In a spectacular manoeuvre, General Rommel switched a number of tanks from north to south in an attempt to turn the British southern flank. Since dawn a great tank battle has been raging around Bir Hacheim, with the British Eighth Army engaged all the way to Gazala on the Mediterranean. Both sides depended on air support, with the German dive-bombers attacking British forward positions and the RAF continually raiding airfields an supply columns between Benghazi and the battle zone.
