NotesNews: July 10. Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the Moslem leader, is to be Governor General of Pakistan when Inida i partitioned into the two new states. This is an historic appointment, for Mr Jinnah will be the first coloured man to be governor-general of a British dominion. The news came as a complete surprise to the people of India when it was announced over All-Inida radio tonight. Mr Jinnah was told the news of the announcement by his sister, and while refusing to comment received the congratulations of his many friends at his home in New Delhi. At the same time the leaders of Congress have done Lord Louis Mountatten a great honour by choosing him to be governor-general of ther new state, which will be called India, and not Hindustan, as was first suggested. ...
