NotesNews: Aug 19. Calcutta is in a state of bloody turmoil today, after three days of fighting between Moslems and Hindus over a British plan for India's constitution. More than three thousand people have been killed, and their bodies are still heaped in streets.... the Moslem minority, pledged to create its own state of Pakistan, insists on a split into two countries and looks set to refuse seats on any interim executive council.
