Embedded text or transcriptReport of the Blimp sub-committee on industry
..... That, whereas the state of the nation after the war will be something awful .... we must all pull together, advance shoulder-to-shoulder and stand with backs to the wall with stiff upper lips .... As to reconstruction of industry, revival of trade and full employment, international collaboration, co-ordination of policies for exchange, credits, finance and tariffs, and long-term constructive plans for prosperity at home and abroad - These are best left to the Emperors of Industry who have had 20 years experience in mucking up our resources after the last war ... Their one aim is to serve the public all they ask is NO CONTROL
"Wouldn't it be too bad if one of our Emperors of Industry put his company's profit before the national interest.. "
