NotesNews: Assasination of Admiral Darlan. - General Giraud appointed High Commissioner for French North and West Africa and General Juin C.-C., North Africa. ... On Dec. 29 M. Andre Philip, Fighting French National Commissioner for the Interior, said in a broadcast on the B.B.C. European service: "On Nov. 16, the French National Committee announced that it took no part in, and assumed no responsibility for, negotiations engaged in North Africa with the delegates of Vichy. Since then you have not heard the Fighting French spokesman on the radio. The situation to-day is modified. Possibilites are opened for collaboration and eventually for union among all authentic elements of French resistance. We therefore resume our broadcasts. ...
