1. Prisoners are not expected to escape.
2. Failure to observe Rule 1. may result in either of the following drastic measures being taken:
(a) no more breakfast in bed.
(b) no more sunbathing.
(c) no more evening strolls round the town.
(d) no more bottle parties
(e) Holidays without pay.
(f) Football matches may be refereed.
(g) We'll arm the guards, by Gad.

NotesThis cartoon was included in "Giles England Smiler" published by J.H. Schultz (Copenhagen, 1946) Captions are in Danish and English and the front cover image and all pages are in the first Giles Annual (approximately half of the works from the first annual are included).
This cartoon was also included in "Giles U.S. Forces Edition" published by the Express in the 1950's. The image and caption are the same but there is no date of publication included. The cover artwork is the same as the 8th Annual cover.
