NotesThis was said by a US commentator to be "the most famous cartoon of WWII": "An American general bid a case of Scotch for the original; Giles gave it away to an American girl." [James Dugan "Giles", Maclean's Magazine, 1 April 1950, p.45]
This cartoon was included in "Giles England Smiler" published by J.H. Schultz (Copenhagen, 1946) Captions are in Danish and English and the front cover image and all pages are in the first Giles Annual (approximately half of the works from the first annual are included).
This cartoon was also included in "Giles U.S. Forces Edition" published by the Express in the 1950's. The image and caption are the same but there is no date of publication included. The cover artwork is the same as the 8th Annual cover.
