Notes | News: 25 Oct: Over 300 cultural and other events were being arranged for the 10-day Fanfare for Europe festival to celebrate British entry into the European Community in January. Lord Goodman, chairman of the committee for the cultural events, said the festival would be non-political. Lord Mancroft, who was heading the other festival committee, said few local authorities had refused to take part because of political objections. |
