NotesNews: 18 May: Dame Liz Taylor, who was honoured for her Aids charity work as well as her film career, said the Queen thanked her "for all the wonderful entertainment" over the years. Friends of the Earth said honey was contaminated by GM crops. Agriculture minister Joyce Quin said the GM rapeseed had been cleared for use. In a broadcast on BBC radio last night, Prince Charles said: "If literally nothing is held sacred any more - because it is considered synonymous with superstition or in some other way irrational - what is there to prevent us treating our entire world as some great laboratory of life, with potentially disastrous long-term consequences?"
