NotesNews: 4 Aug: Because of the fire risk of using Oroglas, the acrylic sheeting that covered the greenhouse-like building which burnt down at the Summerland Holiday Camp on the Isle of Man, it would probably have been rejected under building regulations in Britain.

News: 13 Dec: The cartoon above, paralleling President Nixon's troubles with the Summerland disaster was "undoubtedly offensive to some readers" the Press Council declared. However the editor, Mr Ian McColl, had taken the correct action in publishing five critical letters from readers and a footnote by the cartoonist after be received a complaint, the Press Council said in its adjudication. Mr McColl told the Council that political cartoons were nearly always controversial and would be poor things if they were not. [The Times]
