Notes | News: 26 Feb: Over 700,000 workers were expected to start or to continue industrial action which would disrupt railways, airports, gas supplies, car factories and the Civil Service. News: 1 Mar: Mr Wilson, Leader of the Opposition, and Mr Vic Feather, general secretary of the TUC, publicly declared the "great compact" between the two sections of the Labour movement at a press conference launching a joint document on economic policy and the cost of living. Wage control would be by voluntary restraint encouraged by a favourable economic climate created by price controls. |
