NotesNews: 9 Jan: In Dr Kissinger's statement to the press he said: "The President has sent me back to make one more major effort to conclude the negotiations. We expect that the talks this time will be serious and worthy of the yearning of people all over the world for an early end to the war." He was due to meet the North Vietnamese delegation spokesman, Mr Tho, in Paris.
