NotesNews: 21 Sep: The future Commonwealth membership of Uganda under General Amin would have to be very seriously considered at the next Commonwealth conference, Mr Thorpe, the Liberal leader, said at the party annual assembly. Calling General Amin "a black Hitler" Mr Thorpe spoke of the time South Africa was excluded from the Commonwealth and said: "Our main reason for advocating this was that a multiracial community could not condone a country which eternally practised racialism."

He gained support for his views on German nationalism, anti-Semitism, anti-capitalism and anti-communism through his impassioned speeches and propaganda. He wanted to establish a New Order of absolute rule in Europe and pursued a policy of seizing land by force for the Aryan people.
