Notes News: 4 Jul: The Prime Minister said in the Commons that he would be prepared
to discuss amending the Industrial Relations Act if, after a period, the unions would come
to the Government and show where the Act was damaging either to their interests of to the
interests of the country. But, as if to set the framework for his talks with the TUC
leaders, Mr Heath emphasised that there would be no repeal of the Act. News: 5 Jul: On the
question of retreat by either side on their firm stands over the Industrial Relations Act,
both Mr Macmillan and Mr Feather used the same phrase: "There is no question of
horse-trading here."
