Notes | News: 17 Mar: Don Juan Ehrmann, a barefooted elderly German settler living a secluded life in the Amazonian jungle, was detained by Columbia police on suspicion that he could be Martin Bormann, the Nazi leader, wanted as a war criminal. While the German was being brought out of his remote jungle settlement by a detachment of secret police, a retired Colombian Army officer said it was impossible for him to be Herr Bormann. The officer said that he had farmed near the German and knew him to have arrived in the area before 1945. ... [The Times] |
