Notes | News: 9 Mar: The Government announced measures to keep down the prices of some basic foods. Milk was to be reduced by half a pence and sugar prices were to be cut eventually by 2p a 2lb bag. Potatoe supplies would be manipulated on the market to keep retail prices at the present level. News: 10 Mar: The Prime Minister had a meeting with 16 leading members of the TUC at 10 Downing Street. Mr George Smith, chairman of the TUC , acknowledged the usefulness of the meeting. |
