Notes | News: 16 July: The CBI suggested placing a 5 per cent limit on price increases over the next 12 months in an effort to help the Government to slow down the pace of inflation. This allowed the Chancellor scope to give the economy a boost in his forthcoming statement of reflationary measures. The TUC also needed to take reciprocal action on the level of wage claims, thus creating a voluntary prices and incomes policy. |
