NotesNews: 24 March: One man died and a policeman was seriously injured after clashes in Brussels between police and farmers from the EEC. An estimated 80,000 farmers marched in Brussels to support their claims for higher prices for EEC farm produce. There were several pitched battles, with the demonstrators throwing stones at the police. The police opened fire on the crowd, injuring a man in the shoulder.
