NotesNews: 6 February: The TUC were putting pressure on the government to salvage the Lockheed RB 211 engines contract. Vic Feather was critical of the government's decision to allow Rolls-Royce to go into liquidation before the state moved in to take over the parts is considered essential. "The Government should have stepped in and taken over the whole company. They should have then entered into negotiations with Lockheed and with the American Government if necessary about the future of this contract", he claimed. [The Times]
