NotesNews: 9 September: Britain appeared ready to release Miss Khaled, the Palestinian Arab detained after the hijacked El Al airliner landed in London. The Attorney General reported to the Cabinet on the legal position. Heath called for an immediate appraisal of security procedures used by British airlines and British airports. The guerrillas increased their presssure on Britain for Miss Khaled's release. They declared that they would not settle for anything less than a package deal with Britain, Switzerland and west Germany for the freeing of their captives and airliners. News: 9 September: The International Committee of the Red Cross hoped that negotiations with Palestine guerrillas for the release of more than 170 people still held hostage in the Jordanian desert would produce results quickly.
