NotesNews: 21 April: Harold Wilson asked the Prime Minister at question time in the House of Commons if he recalled that when he announced to the House on July 31 the decision to seek entry to the EEC he had said it was purely an economic and trading negotiation. Since the Lord Privy Seal had now said that in his view it must be political as well as economic what was the Prime Minister doing to reconcile his statement with that of the Lord Privy Seal?
