NotesNews: 9 Feb: Enoch Powell addressed a rally of Ulster Unionists at Enniskillen. He said
that the Conservative party had declared that there would be no difference made between
alien and British subjects not belonging to the UK, for the purposes of entry to the UK and
residence and settlement there. He said "It is blankly impossible that an Australian
seeking to enter the UK should be different from an alien, while a citizen of the Republic
of Ireland should be treated as something which he has persistently disclaimed any desire
or intention of being, namely a citizen of this nation"
